Sirri Island:

Sirri Island is situated 72 kilometers of Iranian coastal line in south of Bandar Lengeh, 40 kilometers to the west of Abu-Musa Island. The area of this island is about 18 kilometers squared. The island is almost 5.6 kilometers in length and 3 kilometers in width. In 1976, for the first time, oil exploration in this region started by Sofiran, a joint venture of Iran and France. Today, the oil production of the island is about 100,000 barrels per day.

Sirri Island is located about 72 kilometers Iranian coastal line to the south of Bander Lengeh, i.e. 40 kilometers to the west of Abu Musa Island. The area of this Island is about 18 kilometers squared, it is located at 25˚ 27’ N and 54˚ 32’ E.

Climate

Sirri Island hot and humid weather. The average temperature of the island in the warmest month of the year (July) is about 40 degrees centigrade, and the coldest month of the year is about 12.5 degrees centigrade.

The average annual rain fall in this island is about 70 millimeters that occurs between November and May.

The maximum humidity of the island is 71.5 percent in July and the minimum humidity of it is 62.5 percent in April.

 

Ecosystem

The plants that can reserve enough water grow in this area. Therefore, plants in this area are mostly tropical and have tiny thorny leaves and deep roots that may be as long as 10 meters. Besides the palm, other short trees are also grown locally.

 

Animal Life

Marine animals live on the surroundings are sharks, turtles, crabs, shrimps and various types of fish.

Other animals such as sun worshippers which are only found on this island, royal falcons, migrating parrots in some seasons, local birds like pigeons and nightingales that may have been brought to this island, and deer which has been brought to the island.

Alvand Field :

 

It is located 50 kilometers to the west of Sirri Island. It includes two well platforms. This field has 11 production wells with a production of about 5,000 barrels per day.

The oil of this field is transferred to the Nasr platform by a 16-inch pipeline and after mixing with the oil of Sivand, Dena, and Nosrat fields is pumped to Sirri Island by a 16-inch pipeline for further process and storage.

This field has 5 wells and produced oil is transferred to Nasr Platform by a 12-inch pipeline.

Esfand Field :

Esfand Oilfield (Sirri E) is located 18 kilometers, southeast of the island. It has 5 offshore platforms including 3 well platforms, production platform, and one flare. This field has 29 production and injection wells and the oil production from this field is about 60,000 barrels of oil per day.

These two fields are located around Nasr Platform, Sivand Field (Sirri C) with 18 wells and Dena Field (Sirri D) with 24 wells.

The oil of Sivand, Dena, and Alvand fields are gathered in Nasr Production Platforms and after the first production operation, it is transferred to Sirri Island by a 16-inch pipeline which is 33 kilometers in length.

Nasr Platform was also under the attack of the U.S. Navy, that caused the death of one person and the damage to all installations. Reconstruction and renovation of these installations were completed very soon after the war.
